Mark McHugh and Spencer Gordon have been in business together as Spencer Marks since 1987. When we met, Mark was working in IT for a major telecommunications company in Boston, and Spencer had just finished his degree in history at BU. Spencer continued his studies in decorative arts when, four years later, we established our business selling various objects from all genres out of an antiques co-op in New Hampshire.
Over the years, silver became our passion as we increased our research library and inventory, focusing on American silver of the 19th and 20th centuries. We were drawn to the imaginations of silver designers and the craftsmanship of the silversmiths to create these works of art – not to mention the sheer beauty of these precious metal objects.
We have been very fortunate to be able to constantly grow our business and offer a wide range of silver items at shows and on our website. Over the years, we have exhibited at shows as diverse as Brimfield and the Winter Show in New York and have sold to collectors and museums throughout the world. We love the business, exhibiting at shows and seeing old and new customers. We would never be where we are without you!
