The 52nd edition of the NHADA Show will be here sooner than you think, and your Board and Show Committee are working on the details now. You will find some new faces (with intriguing specialties) mixed in with your old favorites, and you can be sure that we are all busy stashing treats to unveil at the show. We are keeping the new tradition of the “hidden object”, a treasure to be held under wraps until the show opening so that everyone gets a shot at some great things. This is voluntary on the part of the participating dealers. We also will be extending free admissions to everyone under 30 years old. Young collectors, mark your calendars. You are honored guests of the NHADA.
Had a nice visit with Fern Eldridge at her charming group shop, Fern Eldridge and Friends, on Route 4, right in the center of Northwood. It is a lovely spot, with plenty of parking, Fern’s beautiful period home right next door, and a real, old barn filled with antiques for sale. I always find a treasure at Fern’s.
We extend a warm New England welcome to Pat and Rich Garthoeffner who have opened a new shop in Wiscasset, ME. They will be a great addition to the Wiscasset roster, and we are delighted to have them “nearby”. They join other NHADA members Dennis Raleigh, Bob Snyder and Judy Wilson, and Pat Stauble, and many other great dealers who make Wiscasset home. If you go up that way, have a lobster roll at Red’s Eats, and then go over the bridge to Newcastle where you’ll find Jewett-Berdan Antiques. Tom and Butch are always turning up great stuff.
Member Bonita (Bonnie) Story announces the opening of her new shop at 5 Main St in Meredith. She will be stocking her exceptionally beautiful estate jewelry. sterling silver and home furnishings. Bonnie is a terrific source. Her knowledge of jewelry is extraordinary, and her prices are very, very fair.
Saw Judy Brennan at one of the Concord Shows and we talked of their semi-retitement, and continued support of the NHADA. Judy told me that last year a couple from the mid-west made their way to the Brennan’s door after finding them in the Directory. Happy customers, unannounced. The buyers and sellers had a wonderful encounter. Never underestimate the power of your Directory listing. I am still waiting for that to happen here in Acworth.
