John Krynick and Francis Nestor began COTTAGE+CAMP in the late 1980s traveling to more than 50 antique fairs a year in a little pickup truck with our two small rescue dog sidekicks. We were young artists decamped from San Francisco to New England fascinated by America’s history, folk art and material culture. The two of us were thrilled and delighted that we could acquire wonderful old and historical things on our shoestring budget and place them with a fascinating cast of customers.
In the late 1990s we leased a cavernous shop in Hudson NY. With the space to fill we developed our vision of American Country House Style selling to designers and homeowners for properties in Hudson Valley and beyond. We present a wide ranging selection of furnishings with history, form and patina along with folky paintings, objects and art. Our winding road eventually led us to a Carpenter Gothic church in the Berkshires where we live and work. Our smallish store in Millerton NY is stocked with our well-edited collection of the useful and the artful, from 18th C to Modern. We’re excitedly planning our booth for the NHADA show, a homage to our roots.
